Home Inspection Checklist



Home Inspection checklist is a "to do list" template that consists of all questions you have to ask in order to buy a house that you'll enjoy. Use this Home Inspection template to remember each detail that you have to check before you make a decision to buy the particular house
Living room, dining room, bedrooms Inspection
ð Examine the walls
Check if there are any cracks, bulges, water stains, peeling paints or wallpaper, missing mortal, rotten siding or flaking bricks on the walls
ð Examine the ceiling
Check if there are any peeling paints, sagging plasters or other mechanical damages on the ceiling
ð Examine the floor
Check if there are any carpet baldness's, bulging of linoleum, damages or lack of floor tiles, large stains or demanded areas, deteriorated coverings or cracked ceramics on the floor
ð Examine the electrical equipment
Test all light switches, electrical outlets and their fixedness, outlets' grounding
ð Examine the windows
Check if all windows can be opened and closed easily and glasses are safe, ensure that windows are not painted shut and the hardware is working properly
ð Test all blinds and curtains
ð Ask the seller to replace or fix damaged details
 
Kitchen Inspection
ð Examine the walls
Check if there are any cracks, bulges, water stains, peeling paints or wallpaper, missing mortal, rotten siding or flaking bricks on the walls
ð Examine the ceiling

ð Examine the floor

Check if all windows can be opened and closed easily and glasses are safe, ensure that windows are not painted shut and the hardware is working properly

ð Check if all appliances are working
ð Examine the exhaust system of ventilation, faucets and sinks
Check if the exhaust fans, faucets, sinks and drains are working. Examine the color of the water, the time that it takes to get hot. Examine if there is no moisture under the sink, check the water pressure
ð Ask the seller to replace or fix damaged details
 
BathroomInspection
ð Examine the walls
Check if there are any cracks, bulges, water stains, peeling paints or wallpaper on the walls
ð Examine the ceiling
Check if there are any peeling paints, sagging or other mechanical damages on the ceiling
ð Examine the floor
Check if there are any bulging of linoleum, damages or lack of floor tiles, large stains or demanded areas on the floor

ð Ask the seller to replace or fix damaged details
 
AtticInspection
ð Check if the attic has sufficient insulation and examine its condition
ð Check if there are normal air vents
ð Check if there are no chinks or sagging in the roof.
ð Check if there is no any sign of animals
ð Ask the seller to replace or fix damaged details
 
Electrical Inspection
ð Check if the electrical connections are solidly attached to the house and re-taped
ð Check if there are no wires rubbing against the house, the distance between the ground or driveway and lines
ð Check if the exterior lights work
ð Check the breakers, terminals and splices
ð Ask the seller to fix damaged details
 
BasementInspection
ð Check if there are no large cracks or bulges in the wall
ð Check the floor joists and beams
ð Check if there are no stains indicating that there is water at times
ð Check the supports and sump pump
ð Check the stairs and entry
ð Ask the seller to fix damaged details
Occupants' interview
ð Ask the occupants about the age of the house
ð Ask the occupants if there are any existing or repaired structural problems in the house
ð Ask the occupants if there are any signs of leaking roof now or were in the past
ð Ask the occupants if there are any problems with heating and conditioning systems
ð Ask the occupants if there are any termite damage in the house
ð Ask the occupants if there is a moisture in the basement
ð Ask the occupants if there are no problems with electrical service
ð Ask the occupants if there are no problems with plumbing system
ð Ask the occupants about reconstructions or improvements of the house.
ð Ask the occupants if the house was tested for radon recently
