Calendar boy Cliff Richard, still having a ball: At 70, the pop star continues to look impossibly youthful

Shots of our smiling hero in sporting mode? Check.
Pictures of him hugging a horse while wearing leather cowboy chaps, and arm aloft while a dolphin leaps in the background? Check.
Yes, it’s that time of year when the Cliff Richard calendar hits the  shops – and leaves us all wondering anew how he continues to look so impossibly youthful.

Sir Cliff is an avid follower of the Blood Type diet – a strict eating plan based on the theory that each blood group reacts to certain food types – and plays tennis three times a week.  He also follows the book Secrets Of Longevity: Hundreds Of Ways To Live To Be 100.
Among its more unusual tips, it suggests eating daily doses of garlic, orange peel and celery juice.
Sir Cliff, who has sold more than 250million records since he released his first single in 1958, had the biggest-selling male celebrity calendar last year according to online retailer Amazon, beating many young hunks to the title.
He outsold those of former X Factor group JLS and U.S. singer Justin Bieber.
He has also been the all-time biggest seller for calendar maker Danilo, with more than 1.5million sold over the years.
Talking about last year’s calendar, which again featured him topless, he said: ‘I’m never going to be Arnold Schwarzenegger but when that calendar shot came out, I looked at the picture and thought…”I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing”.’
The official 2012 Cliff Richard Calendar is on sale in stationery stores or online at www.danilo.com.
