Dressed to impress: A-listers pull out the style stops as they hit the front row for New York Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked off in style yesterday as the A-list joined industry movers and shakers in New York.
Star-studded catwalk shows from BCBG Max Azria, Supima and Imitation preceded a string of parties in honour of Vogue's Fashion's Night Out - an annual shopping event that included celebrations in LA, London and Sydney as well as the Big Apple.
Actress Christina Ricci was just one of the celebrities to join the fun, turning heads at New York's Lisa Perry store in a retro mini shift.

The look echoed the era of her new role in television drama Pan Am, which sees her play a Sixties air stewardess.
Ricci posed up with her Pan Am co-star Karine Vanasse, who had also gone for sixties style in a pink and green number, as the pair messed around for photographers.
Pretty brunette Ricci has an eclectic sense of style, and is often praised for her fashion-forward way of dressing.

But, in a recent interview, the actress said she sometimes struggles to know when a piece of clothing becomes 'vintage'.
She said: 'I asked my stylist, "What's the rule for when something becomes vintage and not just, like, last season?" Seven years, apparently. So, seven years later I've brought my Alaia dresses out again!'
Ricci also added she was worried about shooting Pan Am in HD because she was conscious of the fact that she is getting older.

She explained: 'I'm the oldest memberof the cast, and we shoot in HD, so I'm like Dude! I don't want to be, like, scary old-face. I've been using eye cream and all that s**t since Iwas 18 because I knew; I just knew that age was going to walk right across my face.

'I'm in my early 30s, I'm aging, but I'm also dealing with acne. I'm like, What am I? A pubescent boy?'
Ricci was at just one of the hundreds of events held across the world to celebrate Fashion's Night Out.

Other stars included Nicole Richie, who combined her signature hippie-chic stylewith Hollywood glamour to host the Beverly Center's Fashion Night Out in Los Angeles, last night.
The 29-year-old fashion designer glowed from head-to-toe in her lilac floor-length floral maxi dress, which she paired with a sparkling headband.
The gown draped beautifully on Nicole, with it's wrap around bust and floaty wide sleeves.

Out and about: Dakota Fanning and Camilla Belle enjoyed the events in New York, while Lauren Conrad hosted her own event at Nordstrom at the Grove in Los Angeles
